New Competitors Tools Abstract Images  Memorisation and Recall Practice Papers

THE WORLD MEMORY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2008 World Memory Championships will take place in Manama, Bahrain on October 23rd to 27th in the Gulf Hotel sponsored once again by Intelnacom. A prize fund of US$30,000 is on offer to competitors with a top prize for the World Memory Champion of $10,000. 

The Prize Fund will be distributed in the following way

$10K First Prize
$5K Second Prize
$3K Third Prize
£1K for each of places 4 to 10

For each of 10 disciplines:
$250 First Prize
$150 Second Prize
$100 Third Prize

Competitors are asked to arrive by the evening of Wednesday 22nd October.

Thursday 23rd October – Press and television interviews 

Evening – Welcome event and competitor briefing

Friday 24th   Day One of the Competition

Saturday 25th   Day Two of the Competition

Sunday 26th   Day Three of the Competition

Sunday evening – The Bahrain Desert Experience

(details to be confirmed) 

Note – Results will not be announced till Monday 

Monday 27th    Morning – Karting Experience at the Bahrain Formula One Track (details to be confirmed), sightseeing or shopping

Late Afternoon – Results and Awards Presentation event

Competitors should arrange their own flights, but a range of hotel, apartment and sightseeing packages are available. These will be posted here very shortly, along with  a cental contact point for all ground arrangements in Bahrain. 

The Championships will take place within the Festival of the Mind, a major event consisting of exhibitions, seminars and other Mind Sports competitions.


In order to allow sufficient time for translation of all competition papers, the last date for registration will be 30th September 2008. However, it would be very helpful if all competitors could register as soon as possible to enable us to obtain the best group rates.
MEDIA INFORMATION

In order for us to satisfy the many requests we receive from the media, please supply us with an up to date biography and a list of your current achievements in the Mind Sport of Memory. We also need a photo by email. If you have any interesting claims to fame or stories about memory, the press will be very interested.
