The UK Open and pan-European Memory Championships, in recent years, have been held in early June. This was in part to coincide with the week after Tony Buzan’s birthday, which he actually celebrated throughout the month.

The UK Open was established in Shropshire on a small scale back in 2007 but moved to London one year later where it has been held ever since. Last year, with 17 competitors, it became clear that we needed a new venue as L’Escargot restaurant, who had hosted the event several times, was becoming too small to accommodate growing numbers. This year, the French Mind Mapping and Speed Reading Championships are taking place on the first weekend in June, so we have decided to move the memory Championships to later in the month. Avoiding Fathers’ day on the 21st we have decided to provisionally schedule the championships for 27th to 28th

We need your help in finding a new home to host the event. The tournament requires two rooms. One for competitors able to hold at least 20 people in exam layout, one person per desk with good separation between. Secondly, a smaller room very nearby for the arbiters to mark papers which can hold about 10 people, boardroom style. If you think you can provide such rooms, or you know of a good venue in London for free or reasonably priced, please get in touch. We are very open to discuss sponsorship, collaboration and promotion of any interested organisation.

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear from you soon. By the way, registration for competitors will open before the end of March.
